Do you want to gain a degree from an Australian university that combines academic and research excellence with practical industry connections? Welcome to La Trobe, where you’ll find world-class teaching, programs that help you put your learning into real-world practice and stunning campus environments. Of the 20,000 universities in the world, La Trobe is ranked in the top 1.5 %. Our university was rated number 56 in the world in the Times Higher Education 150 Under 50 rankings in 2017. In 2018 we were ranked 59th in the world in the Times Higher Education Golden Age list, a catalogue of 200 universities from around the world between 50 and 80 years old (established during a post-war boom in higher education expansion). According to the latest Commonwealth Government's Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) report, La Trobe is rated “well above world standard” (the top ranking) in 22 fields and “above world standard” in 15 more. We also offer students state-of-the-art facilities, including our AUD$45 million five-storey, five-star sustainable design Sylvia Walton Building at the Melbourne campus, which provides a range of services for international students, and our AUD$288 million Centre for AgriBioscience. La Trobe has six campuses in the south-eastern Australian state of Victoria, and one in the heart of Sydney. Our Melbourne campus, located just 14 kilometres from the CBD, is one of the most attractive in the country. It’s situated on 267 hectares, and features parkland, waterways and a wildlife sanctuary. Find out more about our campuses. La Trobe University offers hundreds of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs in a range of subjects. Many programs offer industry placements or projects and are accredited by professional associations nationally and internationally. We offer courses in these study areas: Depending on which course you choose at La Trobe, you may be able to select from one or more of seven campuses – there are six in the south-eastern state of Victoria and one in Sydney. We also offer many of our courses online. Our main campus, where many international students study, is located in the capital city of Victoria, Melbourne. Melbourne has been rated the world’s most liveable city by the Economist Intelligence Unit for the past seven years. Their Liveability Index rates 140 cities each year in categories such as education, infrastructure, stability, culture and environment and then gives them an overall ranking. According to the Time Out City Life Index, Melbourne also has the happiest citizens in the world. Their survey of 15,000 people across 32 cities found that 92% of people in Melbourne enjoy living here and two out of every three find it easy to make friends. The same Index ranked Melbourne the world’s fourth most exciting city behind only New York and Chicago in the United States and Porto in Portugal. Melbourne is also hugely popular with international students. Student.com recently released its top 10 most popular destinations for students and Melbourne was listed third in the world. More than 8,000 overseas students from about 110 different countries study at La Trobe. There are well over 20 official university sport clubs and a huge number of societies to get involved with. Before that, though, we provide you with a week-long orientation program, in conjunction with our International Welcome Program, to help you meet new people and make friends. There are on-campus accommodation options for international students at our Melbourne, Bendigo and Albury-Wodonga campuses. They include colleges, lodges, apartments and units, as well as standalone houses. And we offer support at every turn, even before you leave your home country. We can help you with your visa, sponsored programs, getting started with your studies, accommodation, community activities and volunteer opportunities and all the processes involved in finishing your studies. There’s a whole team of La Trobe people ready and willing to help you every day, no matter your question or concern. La Trobe is a young university with a strong and growing reputation for the quality of its research.
