Where Knowledge Grows: University of Potsdam
Founded in 1991, the University of Potsdam is a modern and dynamic institution thoroughly focused on innovative teaching and research. With more than 20,000 students, it is the biggest university in the federal state of Brandenburg. The University of Potsdam offers a broad range of highly competitive bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. programs in the fields of the arts and humanities, economics and social sciences, law, natural sciences, and digital engineering. Our students and researchers enjoy access to first class laboratory and library facilities and state-of-the-art equipment. We currently offer 20 master’s degree programs in English, many of which have an innovative interdisciplinary focus. As a publicly funded institution we do not charge any tuition fees. Situated in a region with more than 40 research institutions, the University closely cooperates with numerous organizations of international acclaim, among them several renowned Max Planck-, Leibnitz-, Helmholtz-, and Fraunhofer- research institutions. The University of Potsdam has an excellent track record with supporting young entrepreneurs, and its students profit from close networks with regional industry. The University of Potsdam is one of the most beautifully situated universities in Germany. The city’s palaces and enchanting parks form one of Germany’s biggest UNESCO World Heritage sites. Thanks to Potsdam’s unique location – alongside the river Havel and surrounded by lakes and greenery – it is the perfect place for outdoor activities. The German capital, Berlin, can be reached in just 30 minutes by public transport.
